What the school expects, stated plainly.
Discipline at St. Francis is ordinary and daily rather than dramatic. These are the standing rules for students and the notices parents are asked to read at the start of every session.
General Rules
Applicable to every student on every working day.
Conduct on Campus
Every student is expected to uphold the school's tradition of courtesy and quiet discipline.
- Arrive at least ten minutes before assembly begins.
- Wear the prescribed uniform on all working days; a neat, complete uniform is a mark of respect.
- Speak politely with staff, visitors and fellow students; loud or disorderly behaviour is not acceptable.
- Move through corridors in single file during class-change and dismissal.
Academic Expectations
- Homework is to be completed daily and shown to the class teacher on demand.
- Textbooks, notebooks and the school diary must be brought as per the timetable.
- Students absent for a test will not be given a re-test except in cases of medical emergency, supported in writing.
- Cheating in any form is treated as a serious breach and is dealt with by the Principal.
Care of Property
- Writing on walls, desks or lavatory doors is strictly forbidden.
- Damage to school property will be recovered from the parents of the student responsible.
- Library books must be returned by the due date; lost books are to be replaced at the current price.
General Notice
Standing notices for parents and guardians.
Attendance
- A minimum of 75% attendance is required for promotion to the next class.
- Attendance is calculated separately for each term and communicated in the report card.
- Prolonged absence (over three consecutive days) must be reported to the class teacher in writing.
Parent–School Communication
- The school diary is the primary channel for daily communication; parents are asked to sign it every day.
- Meetings with subject teachers are held on scheduled PTM dates; unscheduled visits during class hours are discouraged.
- Circulars are issued on the school notice board and via the parent portal.
Rules Concerning Absence
Leave, illness and prolonged absence.
Leave of Absence
Absence disrupts continuity of learning. The school records every absence and requires a written explanation from the parent.
- A leave application must be submitted, in the diary, on the day the student returns.
- Leave for more than three days requires prior written permission from the Principal.
- Medical leave of more than one week must be supported by a certificate from a registered medical practitioner.
- A student absent on the day of a scheduled examination will be marked absent unless prior leave has been sanctioned.
Early Departure
- A student may leave before dismissal only when the parent or a registered guardian collects the child in person from the office.
- Telephonic requests for early departure cannot be entertained.
- The gate register must be signed at the time of collection.
Admission Rules
The conditions under which a child is admitted and retained on the rolls.

Admission is granted on the basis of an interaction or a written assessment appropriate to the class applied for, and subject to the availability of a seat.
- The minimum age for Nursery is three years completed as on 31 March of the year of admission.

- A student whose conduct or attendance is found persistently unsatisfactory may be asked to withdraw.
- Admission and annual charges are not refundable once a seat has been confirmed.
